Tyre Pressure Monitoring Sensor is installed inside the rim. Data obtained from the sensor is transferred to the vehicle ECU.
Tyre pressure warning signal will light up at the dashboard if one or more tyres do not have sufficient air pressure.
Since 2014 EU published regulation to require all new vehicles to have tyre pressure monitorng systems, other countries followed similar
law or regulations. Since Hong Kong ordinance does not require vehicles to have tyre pressure monitoring systems, vehicles that are manufactured
after 2014 do not necessary have the systems installed. However, most Made in Korea brands e.g. KIA, Hyundai normally comes with the tyre
pressure monitoring systems together with the sensors.
Original tyre monitoring sesnsors are very expensive. (normally over $1000/per sensor, without installation fees). The appearance of
adaptable tyre pressure monitoring sensors offered in the market to reduce vehicle maintenance expenses.
