Founded in 1892 in Naugatuck, Connecticut, originally named United States Rubber Company.
Initially produced rubber goods such as footwear, belts, and hoses, later expanding into tire manufacturing.
In Europe, the brand’s heritage traces back to Oscar Englebert’s rubber shop in Liège, Belgium (1868), which later specialized in waterproof rubber and tires.
In the 1960s, the Tiger Paw series was introduced, becoming a widely popular product in the U.S. market.
Since 1990, Michelin has owned the brand in the North American market.
Since 1979, Continental AG has managed the brand in other regions.
