The first sailun tire was produced in 2002 when Qingdao Sailun Tire Co. Ltd was established. To export sailun tires oversea, Sailun obtainned product certificate from the transportation authority in the U.S (DOT). In 2008, it received support of the National Development and Reform Commission of China for company technical project.

Sailun becomes the first private tire manufacturer to be listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. It acquired the whole KRT Group in 2014, and became the major shareholder of Goma Group.

Sailun also obtained EU tire label test for products sold in EU. For 2022 thereafter, EcoPoint3 technology developed by Sailun is used to manufacture the new patch of tyres models, greatly improve sailun models performance. For instance, most sizes for ZSR 2 obtained A for wet performance, and A for noise level (69dB)
