Toyo Rubber Industrial was founded by Toyo Boseki in 1945, when it became
Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd upon merging with Hirano Rubber Manufacturing. The first
oversea expansion was in 1966 when it established a Toyo Tire U.S.A Corp, started
selling Toyo tires in the U.S.
More expansion along the way when Toyo was invested by Vaculug Australia Ltd in Australia (currently known as Toyo
Tyre and Rubber Australia Ltd) and opening
of Toyo Tire Europe GmbH in Europe, and Toyo Tire (Shanghai) Co. Ltd in China with Mitsubishi Corporation as joint venture.
Another merger began in 1996 with Ryoto Tire Co. Ltd, and forming agreement with Bridgestone Corporation in 2008.
Since then, Toyo has opened different branches in several countries, such as Russia and Malaysia. It acquired Silverstone Berhad
in Malaysia in Dec, 2010.
